October 2011 - Full house of New Leaders

    << Go Back

    Full house of New Leaders

All places have been filled for the second cohort of students enrolled on CWDC's innovative New Leaders in Early Years pilot.

The pilot, run in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University, aims to develop a new generation of early years graduate leaders.

All 30 candidates, who began their studies this month, will achieve early years professional status (EYPS) and a Master in early years once they complete it.

During their two years of study, students will be offered intensive mentoring, as well as undergoing work placements and employment in early years settings, including childminder roles.

Judith Thompson, Assistant Director for Early Years, said:

"The New Leaders pilot offers a strong emphasis on progression in the sector, while providing a particular focus on impact in areas of disadvantage.

"This latest group of students is the third to undertake the course. The quality of students so far, coupled with the diverse backgrounds they have, has allowed us to recruit from outside the traditional areas of early years. This can only be good for the sector and good for outcomes for children."
