Course Title: Child Protection
Course Details: This course will familiarise all participants with a working knowledge of local child protection procedures and guidelines.
This is a one day course targeted at those staff that have a frontline responsibility for the protection and safeguarding of children and is delivered by the Bristol Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB).
The aims and objectives of this course are:
• To understand the definition of child protection and safeguarding.
• To understand the legal framework.
• To explore value issues.
• To be aware of the definitions and signs and symptoms of the
four main categories of abuse.
• To raise awareness of responses to children's disclosure of abuse.
• To learn correct recording procedures.
• To understand the importance of reporting.
• To outline the referral process with reference to policy and
procedures.
• To practice working in partnership with parents.

D1 Having policies that reflect the importance of safeguarding and protecting
children and ensuring that all staff and parents are aware of them.
D2 Supporting vulnerable children and families experiencing difficulties
D7 Including information on protecting children at staff induction and accessing
