    Course Name: Basic Counselling Skills

    Course Details:
    Facilitated by Relate, this very popular, practical and enjoyable 4 session course introduces basic counselling skills and helps you apply them to the situations you encounter in your work.  By the end of the course you will have been introduced to some counselling theories, learnt seven key skills, and be confident that you can apply these skills to make a real difference in your communication with others.

    By the end of this seminar learners will be able to:
    • Name three concepts from systemic theory and three principles from person centred counselling;
    • Name the seven basic counselling skills and demonstrate, by their practice, their relevance to their workplace setting;
    • Comment on some of the similarities and differences in working with children, young people, and adults;
